FROM THE CHURCH OFFICE

During the week of May 18-22, the church office will be open on Monday, May 18,  Wednesday, May 20, and Thursday. May 21.  The office will be closed on Friday, May 22 of this week.

All hymns and bulletin announcements should be in the office as usual by 9:30 am on Wednesday morning May 20th.  We will be running bulletins on Thursday this week.  

Thank you and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause

Also, the church office will be closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.




RETIREMENT GIFT

With Pastor Amick planning to retire in December of 2027, we would like to accept donations from the congregation and community, towards a retirement gift.  This appeal will be active over the next year and half.  Please note on your envelope, "Retirement Gift".  If you have any questions, please contact any Council Representative.




TEXT MESSAGES

The church will begin utilizing our text messaging to communicate more than church closures, including information on upcoming church events and funerals for St. Philip's members.

If you have an event that you would like to communicate via text, limit your message to 140 characters and send it to Lorianne Riggin via email at webmaster@stphilipslutheranchurch.com or via text at 803-924-4986.  Please allow at least 24 hours prior to posting for all events.

FAITH SEEKERS SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

We will be starting back up the Faith Seekers Sunday School class, an adult class for the 30-50-year-olds, beginning in August.  If you are interested in assisting in teaching a Sunday here and there, please reach out to Lorianne Riggin. Thank you!




PATRIOTIC FAMILY DAY

Mark June 28th on your calendar for a Patriotic Family Day to celebrate America's 250th birthday.  Following a special patriotic worship service, there will be a delicious meal with meats and side dishes provided.  For those that would like to, please bring a dessert.  

Sign-up sheets will be placed in the narthex, by the elevator and in the breezeway beginning June 7th.  PLease sign up by June 21st. to aid in the food preparations.  

After a meal, fun activities will be available, including games, a cornhole tournament, trivia, and bingo.

All monetary donations will go towards the shoebox ministry.  Also, shoe box items may be donated at this time.

Hope you will plan to be present for this special church family day of worship, food, fellowship, and games to commemorate America's birthday.  Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white, or blue for our day of celebration.

HONORING MOTHERS AND FATHERS

To honor Mothers and Fathers, we will collect monetary donations in honor or memory of these important figures in our lives to be given to the Pomaria Food Bank.  It is a privilege to not only be able to provide for our families, but to be able to support and give to others in our community to help them provide for their families.  We will heave recognition of these gifts in our Mother's Day and Father's Day bulletins.

To give for Father's Day, please have your honorarium/memorial in by Sunday, June 7th.

2026 SC SYNOD GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The 2026 SC SYNOD General Assembly will be held on June 11-13 in Columbia, SC.  Delegates from St. Philips will be Billy & Libby Bedenbaugh, Bonnie Frick, Ashleigh Bunce, and Pastor Amick.




LUTHERIDGE DAY CAMP

SAVE THE DATE.....

Lutheridge Day Camp is July 20-24, 2026.  

Registration began on Sunday, January 18th.  Registration forms are located in the narthex and the breezeway. 

The cost is $100.0 per registration.  See or call Libby Bedenbaugh if you have any questions.




POMARIA FOOD BANK

Pomaria Food Bank collection box is in the church breezeway and the narthex. Please consider donating non-perishable items when you are able. Thank you for your continued support.




W.P. Hendrix Scholarship: Bring your cans!

Please bring your cans to donate at the designated bins behind the Family Life Center.  The recycled can donations are contributed to the WP Hendrix Memorial Scholarship fund. Your donations are greatly appreciated. The Lutheran Men in Mission thank you!
